2026 Summer Solstice Event

Thank you to all to participated in our Summer Solstice Event!

Save the Date

December 15 is our Winter Solstice Celebration. More details to come!

On Monday, June 1st, The Yoga Connection hosted its third annual community outreach celebration—the 2026 Winter Solstice. We were honored to welcome 42 participants and volunteers for a beautiful evening of yoga, sound healing, and labyrinth walk.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible community instructors, Ayla Amon and Allison Spooner, for guiding us through gentle yoga practices; Luciane Rodrigues and Jihyue Kim for courageously sharing their inspiring stories and experiences; and Veda Spidle, Susan Pate, Charisse Koba, and Chris Burdette for creating a beautiful atmosphere through their healing vibrations and music.

We are also deeply grateful to Maryellen Dermaret and Art Alliance Greensboro for gifting beautiful and meaningful keepsake clay suns to commemorate the occasion.

A special thank you goes to Christ United Methodist Church for generously sharing its beautiful labyrinth space, providing the perfect setting for our community circle to gather in connection and reflection.

Together, we celebrated the Summer Solstice while raising awareness and support for The Yoga Connection’s mission of providing accessible yoga programs for immigrant and refugee women in Greensboro. We are grateful for every person who helped make this evening so meaningful

With deep gratitude to our sponsor FUNctional Fitness

FUNctional Fitness is a private personal training space, housed inside the North Carolina Rowing Center, which is located behind Ozzie’s Ice Cream. We love meeting people where they are, helping our clients achieve their fitness goals while looking ahead to maintaining fitness throughout their lives. We emphasize the importance of strength training with weights, as well as isometric and functional strength cardio exercises for agility and overall health. Whether you are trying to get back into shape, trying to improve your balance and prevent falls, or trying to build a more consistent workout routine, we would love to be your next step!

2026 Summer Solstice Raffle

A special thank-you to the generous businesses and individuals who contributed to our first ever summer solstice raffle: Sama Integrative Wellness with a 60 minutes Sound Healing Session and Handmade from Happy Alice.  Your support made this year’s raffle a wonderful success!

What is a Labyrinth?

A labyrinth is an ancient walking path used for reflection, meditation, and quiet contemplation. Unlike a maze, it has a single path that gently winds to the center and back out again, allowing walkers to focus on the journey rather than finding the way. For centuries, people from many cultures have used labyrinths as a tool for prayer, mindfulness, and personal insight. Walking the labyrinth together creates a meaningful opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect not only with yourself, but also with the surrounding community. This gathering is offered as a community outreach event by The Yoga Connection to invite people to come together in reflection, peace, and shared experience.

Why the Summer Solstice?

The Summer Solstice marks the longest day and shortest night of the year, when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky. Celebrated for centuries across many cultures, it symbolizes light, renewal, and the fullness of life. It is a time to pause, reflect, and connect with nature and community. As the peak of the sun’s energy, the Summer Solstice invites us to celebrate growth, abundance, and the beauty of the season
